Sunday 19th April 2020

Call to Worship: Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope.  Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.  They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, The Lord is my portion therefore I will wait for Him. Lamentations Ch 3 v21-24.

Hymn: Crown him with many crowns

Prayer: Praise God for the hope we have in the risen Jesus. Ask forgiveness for any temptation and doubt which has made us walk away from daily trusting Him. Ask for his help and the assurance of his grace, and to keep our eyes on Him. Pray the Lord would use this devotional to “feed us” through His Word.

Hymn: Through all the changing scenes of life

Readings:

John Ch 21 v15-19 (p 1090 NIV)

Psalm 23 (p 555 NIV)

Watch: How a sheep lies down in green pastures

Hymn: Great is thy Faithfulness

The 23rd Psalm:

Singing the Lord’s Song in our tumultuous times:(2) “The Shepherd knows what we need”

Prayer: Pray over what you have heard today. Pray about the Coronavirus Crisis: Pray giving thanks who provide services and care for those in need. Pray giving thanks for those in Renfrew in the local shops providing food, medicine and other help. Pray asking we may trust Him to meet our needs and as a Church. Pray there will be those who will come to know the truth of those words. “The Lord is MY Shepherd”.

Hymn: He will hold me fast

Blessing: And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians Ch 4 v7

For thinking over: Read John 21 again. Peter meets Jesus after denying him before his crucifixion and resurrection.

1) Do you love Jesus? How do you show it?

2) Peter was called to serve as a shepherd to the lambs and the sheep of Jesus the Good Shepherd. How is He calling you to serve his people young and old, new Christians and mature Christians, with your gifts and time?
