During the ministry of Mr Hogarth, the seating capacity of the Church was extended on two different occasions, the Large Hall and the Hall at Moorpark were built, and the mission work at Moorpark and Rosebank Hall was vigorously pursued.

Despite these facts, the records consulted contain little information about him. He was the son of the Rev Robert Hogarth, Ivy Place, Stranraer, and was ordained and inducted to Renfrew on 1 June 1886. In 1905 he was translated to Fairfield Church, Liverpool, where he ministered until his death in November 1913.
