The Rev Richard R Robertson BD.
robertson Mr Robertson is an Aberdonian, having been born in Aberdeen on 22 November 1888, the son of James Robertson and Jessie Learmonth. He was educated at Aberdeen Skene Street Public School and Gray’s School of Art. During the period 1913 – 1915 he was Missionary at Sandhaven, and saw service in France and Germany with H.M. Forces from 1916 until 1919.

After the war he proceeded to Aberdeen University where he graduated MA in 1922 and BD in 1925. At the United Free Church College, Aberdeen, he gained the Salmond Prize in Dogmatics, the Lumsden and Sachs Fellowship and the Honours Diploma in Theology.He was licensed by the Presbytery of Elgin and ordained and inducted on 1 May 1924 to the charge at Burghead. He was translated to Renfrew Trinity Church on 11 September 1928, where he remained until 29 September, 1932, when he was inducted into St Clement’s East, Aberdeen. From there he was translated to Faveron on 25 September 1947 and demitted office on 31 July 1951.

On 22 November 1912 he married Catherine Jane Macallan who died on 1 November 1953. Of this marriage there were three children, Richard Ross, DA., Ronan Learmonth, MA, and Edward Macallan, MA, B.Litt.

On 6 July 1955, Mr Robertson married Mabel Stewart Emslie.
